How to Keep You Mind and Body Fresh

Aloha Everybody!

Greetings from Honolulu, Hawaii

What I want to share with you a little bit about vacation. I recommend that you take a vacation with your brain on a regular basis, but I also think you should take a physical vacation on a regular basis as a part of your business.

I cant tell you the number of business owners that I talk to who have not had what I would consider a real vacation in years! In fact, one of my clients had not taken a vacation in over 4 years before I started working with him. I also have other clients, actually a good friend of mine who is a client, that takes multiple vacations. He takes 4 or 5 vacations a year, and I advocate the same for you.

Being able to take a vacation as a part of your business requires a couple of things:

#1- You need to create a plan for the vacation.

You have to know details such as:

* How much it is going to cost?
* What is the specific amount of time that you are going to be spending away?

#2 – You need to build a strong set of systems around you.

These systems should help make sure that you can utilize that vacation plan. If a system is in place in your business that will help run the business without you, then it allows you to take a vacation.

Now, if you are the system, meaning if you were removed from the business or if you have to leave the job and nobody else can take it over, that is a problem and it means you ARE the system, you don’t HAVE a system.

#3 – You need to create a budget that includes vacation.3.26-Newsletter-Quote

If you have a breakeven in your business, make sure that your breakeven plan actually has vacation worked into it. There are many people I work with whose breakeven doesn’t even include a salary for them, let alone a vacation budget!

Once you are hitting your breakeven and you are starting to hit your salary numbers and your expectations, now is the time to start asking yourself, do you want to take a two, four or six week vacation every year and then start putting a plan in place to budget that.

So I want to know from you, tell me in the comment section below, what is your favorite vacation destination and when the last time was that you took a vacation?
